Dear
Joan-
On Thursday, during the Healing School , we spoke of a student at the high school,
who had a hand so swollen that it prevented him from participating in sports.
With little provocation, the hand would swell. He had been dealing with this
problem for a year and the doctors were unable to determine its origin (a bite
from an insect?) or offer relief . So during the fall of this year, it was with
alarm when Andrew's leg began to swell, and forced him into crutches, then a
wheelchair because of the irritation to the hand, and back to crutches when
the knee could no longer bend.
Earlier this same week , poised on crutches, he told me that the concern on
everybodies' mind was where and when this swelling may next occur. And although
the experts could not find a reason for the condition, nor a treatment to eleviate
Andrew's discomfort, OHIP( Hospital Insurance Plan) denied him support to go
to Minnesota to meet with the specialists there. The $25,000.oo was too sizeable
a bill for the family resources to absorb, without OHIP's assistance.
Andrew had been enduring his plight with courage and without complaint. In the
hallway his gentle manner and affable grin was inspiring. Somehow , I felt the
Lord's pleasure in Andrew's demeanor. It led to asking you to claim for Andrew,
Roman 8:5- the Centurion's request, and invite prayerful petition and agreement
in the members of the corporate heart of the Healing School. Although you felt
Andrew's presence would be helpful, you agreed to the plan. I wondered when
you would make this request of Jesus and lead us in the corporate petition.
On Friday after the school day , you prayed the prayer and helped us to embrace
our Lord. What a spontaneous cry arose from the corporate heart of the teachers
and students in the room! Not a moment's hesitation or uncertainty was present.
The tingles in my body, made it clear to me that God heard and was pleased with
his people and the one for whom the cry of the heart was made.
The next morning, Saturday, my wife encouraged me to spend some time in intercession.
The Lord prompted me to call Andrew's home. Never having before spoken to anyone
at his home, I had been nervous to call lest it appear to be meddlesome in the
family's business and /or interfere with God's design and timing for the previous
night's prayer.
Andrew's Dad answered the phone.
" I taught Andrew last year, and this year have prayed with him in the
hallways of the school. I was wondering how is he doing?"
" Andrew is in the hospital. But in the last 12-24 hours , no one can explain
it , it is puzzling to everybody, the leg is back to normal. The doctors can't
explain it."
That Saturday morning , we shared with the school the miracle of Andrew Kottlenberg's
healing. The room was overcome by the Holy Spirit and the freedom that He brings.
Back at the high school that week, I saw Andrew walking down the hallway, without
crutches.
"Sure you can use my name. It was a miracle" he said with that same
affable grin. The family is continuing to see if they can get assistance from
the Minnesota specialists to discover what was the origin of Andrew's condition.
